Rise by PaulWilsonImagesNZ

I find this to be quite a dramatic image with the effects of the small cloud, the light from the milky way is so strong it is far brighter than them. This is a 20 image stitch (4x5) so the quality is very high. I decided to do a 2:1 crop size to encompass more of the milky way. Hope you enjoy.nice wallpaper picture free download via 500px http://ift.tt/1FP3jAX

Falling Spirits by EdNorton

Not long back in Reykjavik from an unbelievable night at Kirkjufell. Still yet to sleep but have just processed the first image in the set. It's an 8 shot panoramic so it's pretty big! Last night really was truly magical and a night that I will never forget. I’ve never witnessed something so beautiful in all my life. Surviving on 3 hours sleep from the previous night, arriving in Iceland in the morning and sorting the apartment and car. Then driving up to Kirkjufell on the Snaefellsnes peninsula just in time for sunset. Not eaten all day and quite cold already - the display started pretty much just after sunset when it was still quite light?! And didn’t stop. The thought of being starving, tired and cold disappeared and I was completely overwhelmed with what I saw. A proper bobby dazzler! Camera Raw adjustments pre stitch and then further levels and colour correction after. I have quite a few from this night from different locations that I'll post up in the coming days as well.. Galactic Lake by JohannesNollmeyer

Shot in a clear summer night in the french alps in August 2014 at about 3000m after arriving this place in the darkness. I had to build the tent first at about 0°C, before i could start shooting this lake. This reprocessed version is the final image of my current milky way series.nice wallpaper picture free download via 500px http://ift.tt/1MlYhuc

Balanced Rock Vortex by MikeBerenson

Balanced Rock Vortex Easy to recognize, Balanced Rock seems to pull in all the stars like a black hole vortex. This image started as a single exposure photograph captured with the moon directly behind the rock and evolved into a work of art. In one of my night photography workshops, we had great conditions for the Milky Way earlier in the evening so I steered the class over to Balanced Rock for something a little different. And with some light painting from the far left side at capture time, the scene really came to life! What you see here is my taking it one step further by connecting the scene's foreground with the sky using a little Photoshop scripting... There is a lot more to this post... see the rest of the backstory, how I got the shot, and get free wallpaper from http://ift.tt/1NlNYJY. ______________________ Learn To Capture Milky Way Stars - Night Photography Workshops with Mike Berenson & Darren White Grand Teton National Park June 7-10, 2015 - goo.gl/qmqvLC September 21-24, 2015 - goo.gl/cVzi3H Arches & Canyonlands National Parks May 22-25, 2015 - goo.gl/y7d3q2 August 12-15, 2015 - goo.gl/y7d3q2 September 10-13, 2015 - goo.gl/zr3QcW October 17-20, 2015 - goo.gl/waiZFxnice wallpaper picture free download via 500px http://ift.tt/1BLUAN4

River Crossing by markg

This image is one of those unexpected and unplanned shots which I happened to stumble across as I headed back to my car after a session of photographing the night sky. The Milky Way is soaring high above the landscape, but reflects beautifully into the river below, giving the image a very surreal feeling. For the tech heads - It's a vertical pano made up of 6 shots. Each shot is a single exposure and photographed with a Canon 6d, Canon EF 14mm f/2.8 at 30 second shutter at f/2.8, ISO 6400, and stitched together in Autopano Giga. And for the record - that reflection in the river is real. This image is another one that looks great on the smart photo as a wallpaper, so I thought why not...I'll let you guys download it for free from here.
