A Night to Remember by kahkityoong
Although we had several tantalizing glimpses of the aurora in the days preceding, it was only towards the end of the tour with co-leaders Arild Heitmann and Stian Klo that we saw a good display. I will remember that night not only for the dancing lights but the amazement on the faces of our group and the great feeling on the drive back to our cabins. Yes, this is my second trip to Lofoten islands of Norway, and I am missing Norway already. It was fun three weeks with Jeff Lewis, Tung and Maomao, we hiked a lot, explored some places with no trails and snow covered mountains. Shining through by Nordhaug-photography
Shining through. Lofoten, Norway, feb 2015. We had been scouting this location for several days. The weather was mostly overcast with intermittent heavy snow-showers and we got a few good pictures of the icy lake and dramatic mountains. This particular morning, the forecast promised better conditions with periodes of clear skies. We headed here to capture a dramatic transition when the sun shined through. I am under the impression that many are curious about the scenery around the cabin, hence yesterday I ventured far out on the swiftly thawing ice to get a sort of overview shot. What looked like promising sunset conditions turned out to be empty promises so we will have to do with a blue sky image. I know of no one who are better at "blue sky" images than Patrick Di Fruscia whose talent seems limitless. Anyway, I have done the best I can. Not an hdr. Single exposure.
